The pH electrode must be cleaned to avoid material build-up on the surface of the glass bulb. Material accumulation on the glass tip of the electrode makes the electrode's calibration inaccurate and any subsequent readings inaccurate. The pH electrode should generally be cleaned depending on usage: once a day, once a week, or at least once a month to prevent clogging and maintain accuracy. You should always clean it before calibration. Immerse only the glass membrane of the electrode in the cleaning solution for about 10-15 minutes, and it will be ready for new and accurate measurements.
