It arrived in Holland from South Africa and, in the 1970s, it was crossbred for many years. With each generation, Durban Poison adapted more and more to the rainy and windy conditions of Northern Europe. During the breeding process, some unknown Indica genetics were crossed with the Durban. Initially, it shows broad Indica-style leaves, but the growth pattern allows the Sativa dominance to appear at the end with long blooms interspersed with thin Sativa-style leaves. Indoors, Durban Poison is ready for harvest after 8 or 9 weeks. Outdoors, it can reach 2 to 3 meters in height and is harvested in early autumn. With sufficient root space, Durban develops strong side branches that will support heavy, resinous flowers. The plant's development, the appearance of the harvest, and the stimulating and energizing high are typically Sativa. Durban Poison has a hazy and spicy flavor with hints of anise, liquor, and cloves. The buds are often dark green and resistant to mold and pests. It is a very potent, consistent, and high-yielding plant.
