This was one of the first female seed varieties offered at the birth of Female Seeds in 2003. But Ferry actually started working on this strain in 1999, and the first batch he produced of this amazing variety was regular seeds for another seed bank. After years of experimenting with the original Grimm Brothers C99, we arrived at the creation of our own C99. The origins are difficult to establish, but in principle it was a long-flowering Sweet Tai landrace variety crossed with a short-flowering Sativa. Most likely Durban Poison. The batch currently on sale was backcrossed to stabilize the genetics in two specially selected C99 phenotypes, the Grapefruit and the legendary Pineapple. The result is the Holy Grail of cannabis varieties, a fast-flowering Sativa that has the taste and high of an exceptionally sweet Sativa variety. A landrace whose flowering would normally take up to half a year. However, our C99 flowers in just 8 to 9 weeks. Despite being a Sativa variety, our C99 has an unusually high CBD content. It actually resulted in a new chemotype, CBD-Sativa. This C99 is a Sativa-dominant hybrid and has 2 phenotypes. One is a bit more compact and the other stretches a bit more. The C99 forms a giant candle-shaped bud with several small branches on the lower branches. All very dense and covered in resin. It is also a great outdoor strain, finishing mid-October in warmer, temperate climates. C99 is mold resistant outdoors due to its floral structure. Therefore, high humidity is not a problem for C99. One phenotype has that wonderful grapefruit smell. The other phenotype has that legendary and coveted pineapple smell. Overall, a very pleasant and balanced taste between fruity and pleasantly sour. The high is typically Sativa; a warm, bright, happy and uplifting effect. This effect is long-lasting and stimulates the mind, providing it with a lot of creative energy.
